My name is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.88keysmusicacademy.com\/teachers\/jose-garcia-3\/\">Jose Garcia<\/a> and I’m a drum instructor at 88 Keys and today we’re doing a little crash course on to get started to play some drums.<\/p>\n<p>So, first thing. Hold the drumstick\u2014depends if you’re right or left-handed. But usually, right-handed people, we open up our hands, we have a line on our index finger. Right there. And, about a third of the drumstick, I like to rest the stick right on that line on the index finger, and then put your thumb right behind it, and then curl your fingers.<\/p>\n<p>You’re trying to find the fulcrum point of the stick\u2014but usually like a third of the stick. And then, same thing with the left hand. Pinch, first line, curl fingers.<\/p>\n<p>Do like a pizza triangle shape, usually works for kids. Back straight. Not your thumbs pointed up, but kind of twist it over, and just hit with the wrist.
