\"ViolinFirst things first, we can all agree some kind of activity, whether it be music<\/a> or art or athletics, should be part of a child’s development. \u00a0It stimulates the brain, encourages routine, creates a sense of hard work, and hopefully, a form of discipline will take a hold of them. \u00a0But why the violin? \u00a0Why encourage your child to take violin lessons? \u00a0Here’s a few great reasons –<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. \u00a0It Improves Hand Coordination<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

I’m not talking hand-eye coordination. \u00a0I’m talking manipulating both hands while accomplishing different tasks with each. \u00a0In addition, their dexterity will improve the more they practice. \u00a0And isn’t it better to occupy their hands with an instrument rather than game controller?<\/strong><\/p>\n

2. \u00a0Music History = Done<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Okay, that’s an exaggeration but an education in music history never ends! \u00a0However, the basics will be. \u00a0The classics will and should be all too familiar the longer they take lessons. \u00a0Composers like Mozart, Beethoven, Dvorak<\/span>, and many more. \u00a0Great violinists like Paganini<\/span>\u00a0and Vivaldi.\u00a0Now a child may not appreciate this knowledge right away but you will. \u00a0And the more you encourage them to learn not only the violin but the history of the music they’re learning, you’ll be surprised at how quickly they take to not only the violin but also learning more about those who came before them.<\/p>\n

3. \u00a0Building Brain Muscle<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

This is an easy one. \u00a0The brain acts like a muscle. \u00a0If you want to build it and improve it, you’ve got to keep working it. \u00a0And the best way to work it is through learning<\/strong>. \u00a0There isn’t a better way to workout the brain of a developing child than learning an instrument<\/a>, especially the violin (although learning a second language comes in second).<\/p>\n

4. \u00a0Routine and Discipline<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

To learn the violin requires commitment. \u00a0Commitment demands practice. \u00a0Practice necessitates a routine. \u00a0And a routine generates a sense of self-discipline. \u00a0Once that sense of self-discipline takes hold, you will see it carry over into other activities, especially school work.<\/p>\n

Just listen to the great physicist Albert Einstein.<\/p>\n
