Samuel Thompson is a pianist, composer, and arranger who recently graduated from Azusa Pacific University with a Bachelor of Music in Composition. His performance experience includes vocal, choral, and instrumental accompaniment, choral singing, solo piano work, and jazz. He has been a member of several ensembles, including the APU Chamber Singers—who recently toured Ireland and the UK—and the Sterling Ensemble, a semi-professional vocal group.
Samuel’s creative work spans a broad range of musical media. He has composed for voice, choir, solo instruments, jazz combos, chamber ensembles, full orchestra, electronic soundscapes, and synthesizers. His music is deeply influenced by composers such as Debussy, Ravel, Rachmaninoff, and Joe Hisaishi.
As an educator, Samuel teaches piano at all levels—from beginners to advanced classical students preparing for Certificate of Merit examinations—as well as jazz piano. In addition to piano instruction, he also teaches music theory and composition.
