Kathy Yun

Kathy Yun is a passionate pianist and dedicated educator. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performancefrom Michigan State University, as well as Master’s degrees from Northwestern University and a Bachelor’s degree from the Eastman School of Music.

Kathy began her formal piano training at a young age, studying at the Primary School affiliated with the Wuhan Conservatory of Music, followed by the Middle School affiliated with the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, where she received rigorous pre-college musical training.

With extensive teaching experience, Kathy has taught both group and private piano lessons to students of all ages and skill levels, including class piano for university-level music majors. Her teaching emphasizes the development of strong technical foundations, expressive musicianship, and a positive, student-centered learning environment.

In addition to her teaching, Kathy is an accomplished collaborative pianist, regularly performing with vocalists, instrumentalists, and ensembles across a wide range of repertoire.
