Nicki Chen is a dedicated and versatile musician with a strong record of accomplishments. Beginning her musical journey at a young age, she has performed in a wide range of recording settings and across various musical styles, including in galleries and other venues that feature string instrumentation. Nicki holds teacher training certifications in Suzuki Every Child Can, Suzuki Violin Book 1 and 2, and the Music Center Teaching Artist Certification. She is also a registered teacher with the Suzuki Association of the Americas. Her classical training includes studies at the Colburn School, the Pasadena Conservatory of Music, and CalArts, where she gained extensive experience in solo, chamber, and orchestral performance. Improvisation in a variety of genres is also one of her key passions. Nicki works effectively with students at all levels. With beginners, she uses the Suzuki Method to help them build a solid foundation in musical understanding and technique. Intermediate and advanced students benefit from her ability to refine their skills and cultivate deeper musicianship. In addition to classical instruction, she also teaches contemporary, pop, and improvisational styles. Known for her ability to identify and nurture each student’s unique strengths, Nicki brings years of experience and a genuine passion for violin and viola—something she hopes to share with every student she teaches.
